Gen Thimayya's house in Madikeri to be made heritage site

Madikeri, Karnataka, Apr 7 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today declared that the residence of Gen K S Thimayya would be made a heritage centre.

It would be converted into a museum as a fitting tribute to the warrior from Kodagu district, he said, while speaking at the centenary celebrations of the General here.

The Chief Minister said the Government would draw up special programmes for the district.

Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, responding positively to the demand of the local residents, agreed to grant 15 acres of land near Gonikoppal for starting an institute of military science, sports and centre. The Government would also extend necessary financial assistance for the project, he assured.

PSL gets Rs 85 crore steel pipes order from Oman

New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) Steel and steel products maker PSL Ltd today said it had bagged a Rs 85 crore contract from the Oman Government for supply of steel pipes. The order, from the Sultanate of Oman's ministry of housing, electricity and water, is to be completed within seven months. With this venture, PSL plans to consolidate its hold in this market.
