Aizawl, Apr 07: Former Mizoram chief minister C h Chhunga's son Chalthanzuala shot at his friend Thanzuala with a US made carbine at latter's residence in Luangmual under Bawngkawn police here last night.
Thanzuala died on the spot.
Police said here today that the incident occurred when Thanzuala was watching TV with his wife and children at his residence.
Sources said Chalthanzuala had held his friend responsible for the separation with his wife in February this year.
Enraged by the killing, some youths gathered in front of the police station last night but were dispersed before they could do any harm.
Police protection was also given in front of Chalthanzuala house.
A case was registered against the accused under 302 IPC R/W 27 Arms Act.
Chalthanzuala, son of the first chief minister of the state, was a self-styled army chief of the still born underground group ZILO, which was nipped in the bud by Mizoram police.
