FCI officer gets imprisonment in corruption case

Patna, Apr 7 (UNI) Special CBI Judge of Patna today awarded three years of imprisonment to a former Food Corporation of India (FCI) District Supply Officer R K Mahto in a forgery and corruption case.

Accused Mr Mahto was held guilty by the Judge Ramanand Sharma under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Prevention of Corruption(PC) Act. The judge also slapped a fine of Rs 1000 against Mr Mahto.

According to the charges, Mr Mahto, while posted as FCI depot-in-charge in Sitamarhi District, had committed forgery in official records for his personal gain.

About 314 quintals of wheat worth Rs 60,000 were missing during inquiry. The case was registered in 1988.

18 EEs dismissed, departmental action against 17 SEs

New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) Municipal Corporation of Delhi has dismissed 18 Executive Engineers and initiated departmental inquiry against 17 Superntending Engineers for allegedly conniving and abetting unauthorised constructions in the capital between 2001 and 2005. HP assembly passes private universities bill

Shimla, Apr 7 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh Assembly today passed the HP Private Universities (Establishment and Regulation) Bill, 2006, in amended form, paving the way for the setting up of private universities in the state. The Bill was referred to the select committee on March 31 after the members pleaded that some of the clauses of the Bill have to be studied closely.
