Dr Thorat assumes charge as NABARD chairman

Hyderabad, Apr 7 (UNI) Dr Y S P Thorat today assumed charge as the Chairman of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).

According to a release here, Dr Thorat, presently Managing Director of NABARD, also served as the Executive Director of RBI and had rich experience in the job, having served as RBI nominee on the boards of Oriental Bank of Commerce, Punjab National Bank and the EXIM bank.

His work as member Secretary to the Vaidyanathan Committee had helped create a Rs 15,000 crore revival package for the short term cooperatives, the release added.

Tourist arrival records 12.1 per cent growth in March

New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) The foreign tourists arrival to the country continues to grow with the month of March recording an increase of 12.1 per cent tourism ministry sources today said. Total tourists arrival during March was 1,280,524 as against 1,142,409 during the corresponding period last year, the sources added. UFBU to hold protest march on Monday in support of SBI strike

New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) The Delhi unit of the United Forum of Bank Union (UFBU) today decided to hold a protest march to Parliament on April 10 to extend support to State Bank of India employees' strike which entered its fifth day.
