Doctors should be service motive: Minister

Hyderabad, Apr 7 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Labour and Employment, Handlooms and Textiles Minister G Vinod today called upon the doctors to serve the poor who were unable to get medical treatment.

Participating in World Health Day celebrations (WHO) organised by Osmania Medical College doctors Forum here, he said the doctors had the responsibility to serve the society and help the poor in providing medical treatment and educate them about the dreaded AIDS disease and other epidemics.

Releasing a poster of WHO with the theme of 'working together for health,' the minister said the state government would take necessary steps to provide all facilities to the doctors who were ready to serve the society.

Two killed in gas cylindar explosion, three injured

Muzaffarnagar, Apr 7 (UNI) At least two people were burnt to death and three others sustained severe burns when a gas cylindar exploded at a streetside dhaba in the Shamli area here today. Police said here two people having food at the dhaba on the Muzaffarnagar-Shamli road were killed on the spot, while three others suffered severe burn injuries in the mishap. Police lathi charge in Ramnavami procession

Jamshedpur, Apr 7 (UNI) Police resorted to lathicharge to disperse two warring groups belonging to two different Akharas during Ramnavami procession at Sakchi area here this evening. Police said the violent clash took place when the Akharas of Toiladungri and Manifit tried to overtake each other. The devotees of two Akharas also hurled stones before police stepped in to disperse them. Seven people were detained in Sakchi police station but they were released later, police.....

Amnesty International, Writers, NGOs, demand Medha's release

New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) Human rights group Amnesty International today joined the chorus of protests against shoddy rehabilitation of project-affected people in the Narmada Valley and sought the immediate release of Narmada Bachao Andolan leaders Medha Patkar and Jamsingh Nargave. In a statement, the London-based organisation also condemned the use of force by police against the NBA leaders protesting the decision of the Narmada Control Authority to raise the height of Sardar Sarovar dam.....
