Candidates file nominations for Yanam Assembly seat

Yanam, Apr 7 (UNI) Independent MLA Malladi Krishna Rao today filed his nomination as Congress candidate for the May three elections to the Pondicherry Assembly.

Mr Rao came in a procession along with thousands of his followers and filed four sets of papers. His wife Malladi Udayalakshmi filed two sets of papers.

Mr M Satya Sai Kumar filed his nomination on behalf of the AIADMK.

Mr I Kumar, the returning officer for Yanam, told UNI over the phone that all three candidates filed nominations today.

The nominations will close on April 12 and scrutinised thereafter on April 13. The last date for withdrawal is April 15.

Tiruchirapalli, Apr 7 (UNI) The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) today released its first list of candidates for 49 constituencies for the May eight Assembly elections to the Tamil Nadu Assembly. Releasing the list at a press meet here, BSP National Secretary and Coordinator for Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Pondicherry Suresh Mane said the BSP and the Puthiya Tamizhagam (PT) had jointly fielded candidates for all the 234 constituencies. PT candidates will constest under the banner.....

Balakrishnan submits report on Keshpur incident

Kolkata, Apr 7 (UNI) Deputy Election Commissioner R Balakrishnan has submitted an inquiry report to the Election Commission on the raid on the CPI(M) office at Keshpur that evoked a furore among the ruling Marxists in West Bengal. EC gives clean chit to observer in CPI(M) office raids case

New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) Dismissing the CPI (M)'s complaints on the raid of its zonal party office in Paschim Midnapore district of West Bengal, the Election Commission today said that its observer had acted ''correctly'' and ''committed no fault.'' 17 file nominations for bypoll in Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 7 (UNI) As many as 17 candidates filed their nominations for by-elections to three Assembly constituencies in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir on the last day of the filing of papers today. Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Abdul Hamid, who is the returning officer, told UNI that while eight candidates filed nominations from Sangrama, four from Pattan and five from Rafiabad constituencies. The scrutiny of papers will be held on April 9 while the last.....
