Bus falls in Chenab river, 50 feared killed

Jammu, Apr 7 (UNI) At least 50 people were feared killed when a bus skidded off the Kishtwar-Paddar road in the Doda district and plunged into the Chenab river at Shashoo this morning.

Police sources said at least 50 people were reported missing.

Three bodies have been recovered from the river so far and eight seriously injured rescued and admitted in the Athauli civil hospital.

However, the fate of the remaining people in the bus, believed to have been carrying around 70 passengers at the time of the accident, was not yet known, the police said, adding that a helicopter has been rushed from Jammu to Kishtwar for rescue operations.

Meanwhile, defences sources said the Army has also rushed divers to the spot, about 100 km from Doda for carrying out rescue operations.

Quadrajoy: Woman delivers quadruplets

Madurai, Apr 7 (UNI) It was four-fold joy for Sudha who became the proud mother of quadruplets after a normal delivery, a rarity in medical history. Kolkata, Apr 7 (UNI) The condition of former Union Minister A B A Ghanikhan Chowdhury today continued to be critical as he was still on ventilatory support and dialysis. A medical bulletin issued by the nursing home, where the vetrean Congress leader was admitted on April 3, said the patient was under close surveillance for organ support.
