Boycott of Courts by Hubli Bar Association members enters 5th day

Hubli, Apr 7 (UNI) Members of the Hubli Bar Association continued their agitatation for the fifth consecutive day demanding setting up of Circuit Bench in between the twin city of Hubli-Dharwad.

The police forcibly removed Senior Advocate S H Kudal, who was sufferring from low blood pressure and undertaken fast unto death, to the hospital as he showed uneasiness.

The agitating lawyers asked the government not to start construction works of the Circuit Bench at Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI) near Dharwad, the members boycotted court proceedings for the fifth day.

Special Train to Ernakulam

Bangalore, Apr 7 (UNI) South Western Railway (SWR) today announced running of Superfast Special train between Bangalore and Ernakulam and back to clear extra rush on account of Easter and Vishu Festivals. According to a release here, Train will leave Bangalore at 1715 hrs on April Eight and reach Ernakulam next day at 0430hrs. On the return direction the Train will leave Ernakulam at 1700 hrs and reach here at 0415 hrs next day.....

India-US on same wavelength on Nepal issue : Boucher

New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) India and the United States are ''on the same wavelength'' on the developments in Nepal and call for immediate restoration of democracy in that country, US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, Richard Boucher said today. Replying to questions after addressing a seminar here Mr Boucher said both India and the US continue to coordinate efforts to restore democracy in Nepal. ''We and India are on the same.....

Saraswati Samman conferred on Gangopadhyay, Paniker

New Delhi, Apr 07 (UNI) The prestigious Saraswati Samman, instituted by the K K Birla Foundation for outstanding literary work in Indian languages, was conferred on eminent writers Sunil Gangopadhyay and K Ayyappa Paniker today. Foundation Chairman Mr Justice (Retd) G B Patnaik gave away the award, for years 2004 and 2005, at a simple function here. Prof Paniker's nephew Amrit Paniker accepted the award on behalf of his ailing uncle who received the award.....
