All localities in UP capital to have hospitals: Minister

Lucknow, Apr 7 (UNI) Every locality of the Uttar Pradesh capital will soon have a hospital of its own, State Health and Family Welfare Minister Ahmad Hassan announced here today.

Addressing a function after inaugurating the neo natal intensive care unit at the Child and Women Hospital, Indiranagar here, Mr Hassan said that a proposal was being sent to the government for developing small size hospitals in every locality of the capital city, to provide affordable health care to all.

Mr Hassan, also announced developing the Indiranagar hospital as a model hospital and special medical facilities will be put in place at the hospital, which is the third centre in Lucknow after King George Medical University (KGMU) and Vivekanand Polyclinic to have a neo natal ICU.

The minister informed that the new ICU is equipped with facilities like incubator, air control, temperature control and photo therapy, to provide adequate care for the new born babies.

Free treatment will be provided to new borns at the hospital which will work as a referral centre.

HC asks Registrar to verify illegal structures

Mumbai, Apr 7 (UNI) Bombay High Court today asked the Registrar to appoint an officer to verify the illegal stalls and encroachments on the pathway along the internationally famous Haji Ali Dargah at Worli. A division bench comprising Justices F I Rebeillo and A V Mohta gave the directions today during the hearing of a petition filed by Haji Ali Dargah Trust, seeking court's nod to demolish the illegal structures, except the five stalls.....

Three convicted in Mandrax seizure case

Mumbai, Apr 7 (UNI) Special NDPS court today convicted three persons to ten years' of rigorous imprisonment (RI), arrested in connection with the seizure of methaqualone tablets (Mandrax) from a factory premises in February, 2001. Additional Sessions Judge P N Deshmukh held them guilty under sections of Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. The court also fined them of Rs three lakh each, failing which they will have to undergo further nine months RI......

HC starts IVRS

Mumbai, Apr 7 (UNI) Bombay High Court has launched an Interactive Voice Response System (IVRS) which would provide the status of one's case on telephone. The new inquiry service was inaugurated by Chief Justice Kshitij Vyas yesterday. Informtion would be available on telephone number 22673090 between 0800 hrs and 2100 hrs in three languages--English, Hindi and Marathi. As many as 40 calls yesterday and 80 today were received on the system, an official release.....
