18 EEs dismissed, departmental action against 17 SEs

New Delhi, Apr 7 (UNI) Municipal Corporation of Delhi has dismissed 18 Executive Engineers and initiated departmental inquiry against 17 Superntending Engineers for allegedly conniving and abetting unauthorised constructions in the capital between 2001 and 2005.

The Executive Engineers were dismissed from service with immediate effect for allegedly conniving and abetting large scale unauthorised construction and rampant conversion of residential properties into commercial use in their areas, an official statement said late tonight.

The action comes as deterrent and exemplary action against senior delinquent departmental officials and under directions of the Delhi High Court.

Regular Departmental Action for major penalty against the Superintending Engineers would be carried out in a time bound manner.

President seeks judiciary to speedily dispose corruption cases

Kalam seeks ban on taking pictures of scientific installations

Bangalore, Apr 7 (UNI) President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam today called for enacting a law, banning capturing of pictures of important Scientific installations in the country through remote sensing satellites. ''Many countries have banned taking photos and we have to create our own law to ban taking pictures of important installations in the country,'' he said replying to a query from a student, during an interactive session, on what measures scientists had taken.....

GCA to reimbruse tickets of fans unable to watch ODI

Panaji, Apr 7 (UNI) Goa Cricket Association (GCA) today announced that some cricket fans who failed to get entry into the stadium on April 3 for the One day International (ODI) match between India and England, despite valid tickets, would get refund and also receive complimentary passes for the next ODI in the state.
