Top naxalite arrested, firearms seized

Robertsganj, Mar 25 (UNI) Police today arrested a top naxal commander here in Sonebhadra district of Uttar Pradesh.

Mehango Chero -- said to be sub-area commander -- was arrested after he returned from his native place, Police Superintendent Raghuvir Lal said here.

Two rifles, two country-made pistols, live cartridges and four naxalites' uniform was seized from his possession.

Lucknow, Mar 25 (UNI) A complaint has been lodged with the city Police against Prof Ram Karan Singh (Sr), Head Lucknow University statistical department, holding him responsible for the suicide of Anshu Srivastava, a research scholar under him.
