Thiruvananthapuram to be seventh base for Air Deccan

Bangalore, Mar 25 (UNI) India's leading low cost carrier Air Deccan today announced its new base at Thiruvananthapuram.

This would be the seventh base for the carrier after New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai, Air Deccan said in a release here, adding that a new 180-seater Airbus A320, which would joint the fleet on April three, would be based at the Kerala capital.

The no-frills airliner said it would operate two new flights to Delhi (via Chennai) and Mumbai (via Cochin) from Thiruvananthapuram, already connected to Chennai, Kochi and Kozhikode, from April 23.

Air Deccan Managing Director Capt G R Gopinath said there was a lot of demand for flights to Thiruvananthapuram, which had till now been serviced only by traditional full service airlines. There was a lot of traffic in Thiruvananthapuram, especially international travellers who looked for low cost air connectivity.

Interest rate on farm loans reduced: CM

Jabalpur,MP, Mar 25 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan today announced reduction of interest rate for farm loans to three per cent for farmers suffering at least 75 per cent damage to crops due to recent rainfall and hailstorm.
