Speaker suspends case till SC ruling received

Lucknow, Mar 25 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey today suspended the hearing in the case related to defection of 40 BSP MLAs to the ruling Samajwadi Party in 2003 till further order.

Mr Pandey in his ruling said he would decide the next date of hearing only after yesterday's Supreme Court order was received.

''I have asked both the parties to give me the certified copy of the SC verdict and only after going through the decision, the next date of hearing would be fixed,'' he added.

Meanwhile, BSP leader Swami Prasad Maurya moved a petition before the speaker urging him to suspend the hearing as SC had stayed the same in the speaker's court.

Meanwhile, Loktrantrik Bahujan Dal leader Rajendra Singh Rana, said the five MLAs who had joined the BSP should return to their party after the SC ruling, otherwise his party would take appropriate action against them.
