Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy give music for CWG 2006

Mumbai, Mar 25: Music composers Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy of the hit track 'Kajra Re' fame have composed the music for the Commonwealth Games 2006 being held in Australia.

The trio had earlier composed music for the Afro Asian Games and the National Games.

''The people involved with the Commonwealth Games liked our work and hence invited us to do the music for them,'' informed Ehsaan while talking to reporters here yesterday.

Their composition played at the Commonwealth Games this year, is kind of an invitation to the players and others to come to India where the games are going to be held four years later. '' The concept of the piece is akin to the theme song of the Olympics which is indeed a great honour,'' added Ehsaan.

Mysore, Mar 25: Impressed by Karnataka's performance in utilising the funds allocated to it under the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme, the Union Government has decided to release more funds to it under the second phase.Informing this at the two-day ''Do it yourself'' state-level Technical Projects Exhibition here, Technical Education Department Director K Basavaraj said under Phase-I, the Centre had allocated Rs 1,550 crore, of which Rs 174 crore was earmarked for Karnataka. Work set on long-delayed Iraq oil metering system

UNITED NATIONS, Mar 25 (Reuters) Iraq, under international pressure to crack down on oil smuggling, is finally starting work on a long-delayed system to meter its oil production, an Iraqi diplomat said.
