Sachin's days far from over: Vaas

New Delhi, Mar 25 (UNI) His recent poor form and injury problems notwithstanding, Sachin Tendulkar remains one of the best batsmen of the last two decades, according to Sri Lankan pacer Chaminda Vaas, who believes that the little master will come back strongly to add to his pile of runs.

''Every batsman has failures in his times. He will come out and do well for India in the next couple of series,'' Vaas, who holds the distinction of getting Sachin out most number of times, told Headlines Today.'' Brushing aside theories that Sachin was vulnerable to the incoming delivery, Vaas said the problem was due to lack of batting practice after the elbow injury, which kept him out for some time and age had nothing to do with the problem.

Sachin, who was booed by home fans in the Mumbai Test against England, will remain out of action for another eight weeks owing to the injury and will miss the ODI series against Andrew Flintoff's side beginning next week.

But Vaas thinks that Sachin still has plenty of cricket left in him and his days are far from over.

The Sri Lankan pacer said the batting maestro evoked the same fear in the opposition bowlers as he used to in the years gone by and it would be a mistake to dismiss him.

''He is a talented cricketer and will get runs for India,'' he said.
