100 houses gutted in fire

Kohima, Mar 25: Over one hundred houses were reduced to ashes and more than five hundred families rendered homeless, when a big fire broke out in the Ghorapatti area of Dimapur town last night.

Official sources said the cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, but it was suspected that the fire spread from a lighted candle. However, no casualty was reported so far.

Altogether five fire tenders were pressed into service to douse the flames in the densely populated area. Property worth several lakhs was damaged.

Melbourne, Mar 25: Samaresh Jung's hopes for a sixth gold medal went up in smoke as his pistol deserted him at crucial moments and the Indian finished ninth in the 25th Standard Pistol event here today.The pistol, which fetched Samaresh five gold, a silver and a bronze, got jammed in the third and sixth series this morning leaving him bewildered at the turn of events.Samaresh totalled 551 for the ninth slot. NSCN(K) cadre killed in clash

Kohima, Mar 25 (UNI) In an interparty fight one NSCN(K) cadre was killed at Mon village in Mond district of Nagaland yesterday.
