MP Cong men seek disqualification of CM, Ministers

New Delhi, Mar 25 (UNI) A delegation of Congress leaders from Madhya Pradesh today met President A P J Abdul Kalam at the Rashtrapati Bhawan here today and submitted a memorandum seeking the disqualification of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and many of his Ministers on the ground of holding offices of profit.

The five-member delegation included Leader of the Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Jamuna Devi, PCC president Subhash Yadav and Deputy Speaker Hajari Lal Raghuvanshi.

The memorandum stated that the Chief Minister, who was still an MP, was occupying the post of chairman of Madhyam, a body registered under the Firms and Societies Act and involved in advertising, film production and publication.

Nearly Rs 100 crore of the state funds had been diverted to this organisation for disbursement to the press and advertising agencies, they alleged.

The memorandum also charged that in the guise of the organisation, state funds were being channelised through the Chief Minister for personal gains as he had been enjoying all benefits, pecuniary and otherwise, available to the chairman of the organisation.

The memorandum said Mr Chauhan was going to contest an Assembly by-election from Budhani and that he was using the Madhyama to gain favour of the mediapersons who are dependent on this organisation for their financial support.

As many as nine Ministers in the state, were holding offices of profit as chairmen or presidents of organisations registered as companies or Societies and established by the state, according to the memorandum.
