Lord Mayor of London Alderman David to visit H'bad

Hyderabad, Mar 25: Alderman David Brewer CMG, Lord Mayor of London will be leading a high powered business delegation on his visit to the city, starting March 27.

The visit is aimed to explore business and economic opportunities between Andhra Pradesh and the City of London in the drugs and pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, electronics and telecommunications, construction, information technology, stock markets, insurance, legal services and healthcare sectors.

Lord Mayor is the Head of the City of London Corporation and also the Ambassador for the UK based Financial Service industry, with headquarters in London.

The delegation is comprising officials from Trade and Investment, London Stock Exchange, the Law Society of England and Wales, International Financial Services (IFLS), London College of Law and business representatives.

FICCI will organise a Seminar on 'The City of London, Your Gateway to Global Business', the same day, to be attended by industry captains from the state representing various sectors.

Pistol deserts Samaresh, finishes fifth in last event

Melbourne, Mar 25: Samaresh Jung's hopes for a sixth gold medal went up in smoke as his pistol deserted him at crucial moments and the Indian finished ninth in the 25th Standard Pistol event here today.The pistol, which fetched Samaresh five gold, a silver and a bronze, got jammed in the third and sixth series this morning leaving him bewildered at the turn of events.Samaresh totalled 551 for the ninth slot.
