HPSCSC records Rs 416 crore turnover

Shimla, Mar 25 (UNI) The Himachal Pradesh State Civil Supplies Corporation (HPSCSC) has recorded sales turnover of Rs 416 crore this year, registering an increase of Rs 38 crore as compared to last year, Horticulture, Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Singhi Ram said today.

Presiding over the 104 and 105th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Corporation here, he said it had achieved sales turnover of Rs 416 crore till February this year.

Mr Ram said 108 godowns of the corporation would be computerized to strengthen the public distribution system (PDS) in the state, besides diversifying its activities and making 10 new LPG agencies functional during the next financial year.

The corporation has also decided to acquire the HP Horticultural Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation's (HPMC) land at Kundli for the construction of a cold storage at Rs 2.25 crore.

The minister said a medicine shop at Reckong Peo in Kinnuar district of the state would be made functional soon to provide cheap medicines to the people of the region.

The corporation also decided to regularise the services of 11 daily wagers on compassionate grounds, he said.

The Board of Directors had earlier decided to give four per cent DA to its employees with effect from July last year.

Several senior departmental officials were also present in the meeting.

Minor gang-raped in Aurangabad; five arrested, two absconding

Aurangabad, Mar 25 (UNI) A 14-year-old girl was allegedly gang-raped near the Salim Ali lake here, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sudhir Dabhade said. He said the incident occurred around 1930 hrs last evening when the girl had gone to the lake along with her boy friend. While her boy friend went to buy an ice-cream, a gang of seven youth took her forcibly to a deserted place where two of them raped her while the others.....

Stirs against delay in setting up circuit bench

Dharwad, Karnataka, Mar 25 (UNI) Dharwad Bar Association President B D Hiremath today commenced a fast-unto-death stir in protest against the delay in setting up a circuit bench of the Karnataka High Court here, while as the Association members boycotted courts and resorted to a road blockade.
