High alert in Firozepur division following threat

Phagwara, Mar 25 (UNI) Railway authorities have sounded a high alert in the entire Firozepur division after the Phagwara Station Superintendent received a letter this afternoon threatening explosions in the railway station and the town tomorrow.

Security forces have been searching the trains, platform, and sorrounding areas for any suspicious person or unclaimed articles.

The Dog Squad has also been called into action.

Meanwhile railway stations of Firozepur Division including Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Firozepur, Jammu, Pathankot and other stations have also been asked to take precautionary measures.

All railway passengers have been requested by the railway employees to keeps strict vigil.

The letter received by Phagwara Station Superintendent was posted from Phagwara on March 24.

SSP Kapurthla Rajeev Aheer was informed about the threatening letter. GRP officials and the police are investigating the matter.
