Division railway training centres at Palakkad, Rangiya

Tiruchirapalli, Mar 25 (UNI) Two Divisional Railway Training Centres would be established to impart training to Group C and Group D employees working at the divisional level, according to R Gopinathan Nair, Additional General Manager, Southern Railway.

Distributing certificates to a five-member technical team from the Angolan Railway Corporation, which completed a training programme at the Central Railway workshops at Golden Rock here last evening, Mr Nair said the Railway Board had cleared the proposal and the training centres would be set up at Palakkad in Southern Railway and Rangiya, near Guwahati in North Frontier Railway.

The railway ministry had embarked on a mission to impart training to top, middle and junior management personnel as well senior staff of the organisation.

He also announced a cash reward of Rs 20,000 to the railway officials who imparted training to the Angolan Railway personnel.

Speaking on the occasion, S Rangarajan, Chief Workshop Manager of the Central Railway Workshops, Golden Rock, said the workshop was emerging as an important centre for training railway officials of foreign countries apart from maintenance of railway rolling stocks.

The workshop, in association with the Diesel Traction Training Centre (DTTC) here had already trained Sudanese Railway men in three batches. The foreign railway team had been given hands on training rather than lectures to gain expertise to meet any challenge so that they could go back to their country to look after the locomotives there.
