CII elects Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu, TN Chairman for 2006-07

Chennai, Mar 25 (UNI) Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu, Wholetime Director of the Coimbatore-based Lakshmi Machine Works Limited, was elected as the new Chairman of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Tamil Nadu, for the year 2006-07.

R Ramaraj, Managing Director, Sify Ltd, was elected as the Vice Chairman of CII, Tamil Nadu, for the year 2006-07, a CII release said here today.

Mr Jayavarthanavelu has been closely associated with the CII and was the Chairman of CII, Coimbatore Zone during the year 1997-98 and was the Chairman of the Textiles Sub-Committee of CII, Southern Region, during the years 2002 and 2003.

He is also the Chairman of Young Indians (YI), Coimbatore Chapter. He was the immediate Past Chairman of the Textile Machinery Manufacturers Association, Mumbai.

Mr Ramaraj, an active Member, has been involved in many activities and initiatives of CII, and the recent one as Chairman of Connect 2005-the Annual IT Event of Tamil Nadu, held in 2005 in Chennai.

Unit making fake Shahnaz Hussain cosmetics busted

New Delhi, Mar 25 (UNI) The Delhi Police have unearthed a manufacturing unit in the Fatehpuri area of Central Delhi producing fake Shahnaz Hussain cosmetics and arrested two people in this connection. The racket was unearthed with the arrest of one Sanjay Rajpal from the Anand Vihar area who used to market fake products of Shahnaz Hussain and 79 packs of the fake cosmetics along with a label were seized from his possession. Traffic restrcitions for Kotla One Dayer on March 28

New Delhi, Mar 25 (UNI) The Delhi Traffic Police have announced several traffic restrictions in the capital for the one day international match between India and England scehduled to be held at the Ferozeshah Kotla Ground on March 28. As per the restrictions announced by the traffic police for March 28, no commercial vehicle will be permitted to ply on the Ring Road between Kashmiri Gate and Nizamuddin bridge between 0700 hrs and 1800 hrs. Cylinder blast leaves 13 injured; 3 serious

New Delhi, Mar 25 (UNI) Thirteen people were injured, three of them seriously, when a gas cylinder being illegally filled exploded in Shakarpur area of East Delhi this morning. The injured include three children (ragpickers aged between 7 and 13), who have been admitted to the hospital, according to sources. The blast occurred at about 0930 hrs in the base of a three-storey building 'Suraj Bhawan' in School Block area of Shakarpur leading to the collapse.....
