Army sets up 'Fauji Pickle Company' for women

Jammu, Mar 25: In its ongoing effort to win the hearts and minds of the local populace and provide a healing touch, Army today (Mar 25, 2006) set up a pickle-making project at village Gura Salathian near Vijaypur, 30 km from here.

Mrs Jas Dhaliwal, President, Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA) Tiger Division inaugurated the project named as ''Fauji Pickle Company'' and dedicated it to the women of the village.

Earlier Tiger Division also organised a training camp for women in the food processing and fruit preservation business.

Keeping up with the objectives of the Army Wives Welfare Association, the aim of this project is to empower women folk particularly the families of ex-servicemen. The project will not only induce a feeling of self-reliance and confidence amongst the women but also provide them with sources of additional income.

Mrs Dhaliwal said the army would monitor and assist the project by providing necessary guidance and initially help ink marking the produce. Measures like these not only strengthen ties between the Army and the local population but also give impetus to the image of the Army, she added.

Girglani Commission will be implemented in toto: CM

Hyderabad, Mar 25 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today promised agitated TRS members in the Assembly that the Girglani Commission report on Telangana would be implemented in letter and spirit. Prince Charles, Camilla arriving to India on Mar 26

New Delhi, Mar 25: Prince Charles and his wife Camilla Parker Bowles will arrive here tomorrow (Mar 26, 2006) on a six-day visit to India, primarily to support environmental and conservation initiatives and discuss employment opportunities for young people. The Prince and the Duchess of Cornwall will be in India on the final leg of their three-nation tour that also took them to Egypt and Saudi Arabia. A senior official of the British High Commission here said the visit.....
