Arjun Atwal, Daniel Chopra miss the cut in Players Championship

Florida, March 25 (UNI) Arjun Atwal could not be third time lucky and dropped five shots over the first six holes to miss the cut again, while Indian-born Swede Daniel Chopra also fell by the wayside after a nightmarish seven-over 79 in the eight million dollar Players Championship.

In what is called the unofficial ''fifth major'', Chopra hit a birdie on the sixth hole and that was the last time he was seen smiling. The former Asian Tour regular stumbled on a couple of bogeys on his front nine and his return journey proved worse as he dropped bogeys in regular intervals -- on the 11th, 13th, 14th and 18th and to make it worse, a double bogey on the 17th completed his agony.

Chopra totalled a disappointing two-day total of 149 that slammed the door on him.

In his debut here, Atwal too, had just a birdie -- on the 17th -- to boast about.

The Orlando-based Kolkata pro had a poor front nine, dropping four shots over the first five holes, including bogeys on the second and sixth and a double bogey on the fifth. He missed the cut for the third time in a row with a total of 151.

Meanwhile, American Jim Furyk (eight-under 136) carded one-under 71 to stay one shot clear while it was a dramatic exit for the other overnight leader Davis Love III.

A two time winner here, Love stuttered to a horrendous round of 83 to miss the cut by four strokes.

Former winner Tiger Woods, clearly not in the best frame of mind as his father battles with cancer, improved on his opening level-par round to finish at three under and is placed tied 20th with a two-day total of 141.
