46 people injured as bus falls into gorge in HP

Shimla, Mar 25 (UNI) Forty-six people were injured, seven of them seriously, when a private bus they were travelling in fell into a gorge at Badiyaar in Rohru area of Shimla district early today, police said.

The accident occurred at about 0830 hrs after the bus, carrying 46 passengers, fell into the gorge.

Police said the bus had developed a mechanical fault and despite best efforts by the driver, he failed to negotiate the curve.

Seven of the seriously injured had been referred to Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) here, where the doctors described their conditions as serious.

The remaining injured have been admitted to a government hospital at Rohru and the doctors said they would be discharged tomorrow.

The Shimla district administration has announced an immediate relief of Rs 7,500 each to the seriously injured and Rs 500 to the other injured.

Police said a case has been registered and investigations were on.

Ambani's resignation will not affect investment in UP: Amar Singh

Lucknow, Mar 25 (UNI) Terming the resignation of industralist Anil Ambani from the Rajya Sabha as his 'individual' decision, Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh said it would not affect the investment process in Uttar Pradesh. Mr Singh, who flew into the UP capital this evening, was talking to reporters at the Amuasi airport. Welcoming Mr Ambani's decision, Mr Singh maintained that it was his individual decision as he was not a member of the Samajwadi.....

New Delhi, Mar 25 (UNI) Struggling with a back spasm, Virender Sehwag is hopeful of playing the first of the seven-match one day series against England at his home turf here on March 28.
