Youth kidnaps brother for ransom of Rs 25,000 in Aurangabad

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, Mar 10 (UNI) The city police today registered an offence against a 23-year-old youth for allegedly kidnapping his younger brother for a ransom of Rs 25,000 from his parents, following a complaint by his mother.

The police have arrested his friend, Pravin Laghane, for allegedly assisting him in the kidnapping, but are yet to trace the accused who has been absconding along with his 12-year-old brother.

According to Assistant Commissioner of Police Navin Chandra Reddy, Ajit Vikramanna Pille (23), who recently lost his job in a leading telecom company, had allegedly kidnapped Santosh from his school in CIDCO locality on March eight.

Ajit had called up his residence and asked his mother to deposit Rs 25,000 in Laghane's account in exchange for the release of Santosh.

The accused informed his parents yesterday morning about his younger brother's condition, but did not disclose the location.

Considering the seriousness of the issue, their mother, Vrinda Pille, approached the police and registered a complaint of kidnapping. Following this the police swung into an action and arrested Laghane under section 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for assisting Ajit in the crime, Mr Reddy said adding that the police were investigating the case.

Police said that Ajit, who was working with a leading telecom company, had lost his job recently.

An offence has been registered under sections 363 and 384 of the IPC against Ajit for kidnapping and demanding ransom.
