Two militants arrested

Srinagar, Mar 10 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir police today arrested two militants before they could kill a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader in south Kashmir this afternoon, official sources said.

They said a militant entered the house of Mukhtar Ahmad Paddar, Deputy Chairman of the Municipal Council at Mattan in south Kashmir district of Anantnag.

However, before the militant, identified as Javid Ahmad Khan, could hurl a hand grenade, he was overpowered.

Later, another militant Azad Ahmad Shah was arrested outside the house, the sources said adding they (militants) had come to kill Mr Paddar.

12 killed as lorry falls into ditch

Mandya, Karnataka, Mar 10 (UNI) Twelve people were killed and 40 injured when a lorry in which they were travelling overturned and fell into a ditch between Halaguru and Mutthathi highway in this district today. Police sources said the mishap occurred when the lorry, carrying more than 70 people from Chikkakalkuni village in Mysore district, was proceeding to Mutthathi village, for a religious function. Six of the injured were rushed to the National Institute.....

4 member committee set up to decide tie-up with DIC(K): Moily
