TTD presents budget for 2006-07

Tirumala, Mar 10 (UNI) Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams(TTD) Trust Board and Controller of Sri Venkateswara temple today presented a budget of Rs 738.36 crore for the financial year 2006-07, an increase of 9.52 per cent in the allocation over the current year.

The board meeting, held under the Chairman of TTD and the Union Minister, T Subbarami Reddy, had allotted an amount of Rs 20 crore exclusively for Hindu Dharma and Rs 149.09 crore towards salary and wages for the employees, TTD said in a release here.

TTD alloted Rs 58.93 crore to the TTD run hospitals and Rs 27.20 crore for educational inistitutions.

The TTD under the water supply scheme allotted Rs 31.44 crore for the construction of Kumaradhara and Pasupudara dams and construction of five MLD tertiary sewage treatment plant at Tirumala hills.

The TTD also alloted Rs 37.89 crore for roads and maintenance of cottages and Rs 5.05 crore for maintenance of temples and renovations, the release added.

Azad expresses grief over Kathua bus accident

Jammu Mar 10 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad expressed grief over the loss of human lives in a bus accident near Kathua today in which four people were killed and many injured. Expressing his sympathies for the bereaved families, he also prayed for the early recovery of the injured in the accident. Snow in Himachal Pradesh

Chandigarh, Mar 10 (UNI) High altitude areas in Himachal Pradesh experienced fresh snowfall while certain areas in Punjab and Haryana witnessed rain during the past 24 hours. The mercury, however, kept up with cloudy weather persisting in most of the areas in the region.
