Preserve ancient monuments and shrines: Azad

Bhaderwah, Mar 10: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has urged the archaeological and the tourism departments to develop and preserve ancient monuments and shrines in the state.

Visiting ancient temples at Gupt Ganga yesterday, Mr Azad stressed the need for preserving ancient monuments, shrines, temples, mosques and birthplaces of sufis and saints. These sites are the rich treasures of the state and part of the country's glorious civilisation, he added.

The Chief Minister said it is a pride for the state that the land was the home of great saints and sufis who meditated here and spread the message of love, peace and humanity.

Lonavala (Maharashtra), Dec 29: Yoga is not a religion but a health system, claimed Dr Satbir S Khalsa, a researcher with the Havard Medical School. Rameswaram (Tamil Nadu) Dec 1: One more case of religious offence has been filed against Controversial Tamil Actress Kushboo for hurting the sentiments of Hindus by sitting cross-legged with footwear before the 'Mupperum Deviyar' idols, at the Judicial Magistrate (JM) Court here. Hindu Munnani Local Leader S Kannan Siva filed the case at the JM Court here yesterday under Sections 295 and 295 (A) of the IPC relating to offences against religion.
