Preserve ancient monuments and shrines:Azad

Bhaderwah, Mar 10 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad has urged the archaeological and the tourism departments to develop and preserve ancient monuments and shrines in the state.

Visiting ancient temples at Gupt Ganga yesterday, Mr Azad stressed the need for preserving ancient monuments, shrines, temples, mosques and birthplaces of sufis and saints. These sites are the rich treasures of the state and part of the country's glorious civilisation, he added.

The Chief Minister said it is a pride for the state that the land was the home of great saints and sufis who meditated here and spread the message of love, peace and humanity.

Deadly bird flu not in US yet - report

WASHINGTON, Mar 10 (Reuters) The H5N1 avian flu virus has not yet made its way to North America, although many experts believe it will, US government researchers said. Eight months worth of sampling migratory birds has turned up no evidence of the dangerous H5N1 strain, the team at the U.S. Geological Survey's National Wildlife Health Centre said yesterday. The team has been sampling migratory waterfowl, considered to be the most likely carriers of influenza viruses.....

Kalam charms scholars by wit, knowledge
