Power minister to hold meeting on Mumbai's power issue

Mumbai, Mar 10 (UNI) Maharashtra Energy Minister Dilip Valse Patil today said Union Power Minister Sushilkumar Shinde has called a meeting in Delhi on Monday to discuss Mumbai's power situation.

Speaking at a press meet, Mr Patil said the government is of the view that there should not be any load shedding in Mumbai. He said the representatives of all the power companies catering power to the city have also been called for the meeting. Mr Patil however stressed for power saving in Mumbai.

Referring to the strike of resident doctors, Mr Patil said the medical education director and secretary are holding negotiations with the striking doctors.

He said 554 doctors from various other departments were deployed in government and corporation hospitals to treat the patients and added that 44 new doctors have also been appointred in walk-in interviews.

Navapur hospital free of patients

IMFL worth Rs.23 lakh seized in Vadodara, 2 arrested

Vadodara, Mar 10 (UNI) Crime Branch sleuths today seized Indian made foreign liquor (IMFL) worth over Rs 23 lakh after intercepting a truck at Jambua bridge on the outskirts of the city. PCB police inspector Kaushik Pandya said the seizure led to arrest of truck owner Rakesh Mina and driver Omkar Singh, both residents of Ujjain. Marine Drive rape case: Hearing adjourned to March 13

Mumbai, Mar 10 (UNI) Additional Sessions Judge K U Chandiwal today adjourned the hearing of the infamous Marine Drive rape case to March 13.
