Chennai, Mar 10 (UNI) Arrangements for the April/May elections to five state assemblies are going on as per schedule, Election Commissioner Naveen B Chawla said today.
Talking to newsmen at the airport here soon after his arrival from New Delhi, Mr Chawla said a team from the Election Commission would visit Tamil Nadu shortly to look into complaints from various political parties about the violations of the model code of conduct.
He said the team would also suggest and make necessary arrangements to ensure a peaceful poll to the Tamil Nadu Assembly on May 8.
He said he was going to Pondicherry to review the ongoing arrangements for the two phase poll on May 3 and May 8 poll for the Territorial Assembly with Chief Secretary, Home Secretary, top police officials and all electoral officers of the Union Territory.
Mr Chawla held discussion for half-an-hour with State Chief Electoral Officer Naresh Gupta at the VIP lounge of the airport about the ongoing arrangements for the May 8 elections to the state Assembly.
