PGSU intensifies stir

Kohima, Mar 10 (UNI) The Post Graduate Students Union of Nagaland University (PGSU) has intensified its agitation demanding the ouster of Nagaland University vice chancellor Prof. G D Sharma.

PGSU sources said over 200 post graduate students from Kohima, Limami and Medziphema campuses of Nagaland University gathered in front of Nagaland University here yesterday.

Later the slogan shouting students carrying placards against Prof. Sharma took out a procession from the University complex to the Raj Bhavan.

The students submitted a representation to Nagaland governor Shyamal Datta, who is also the chief rector of the University, at the Raj Bhavan.

The representations sought the intervention and immediate action of the Governor.

They stated that Prof. G D Sharma has tendered his resignation in presence of PGSU on February 28 but till date the Ministry of Human Resources Development was reluctant to accept his resignation.

They alleged that the students were losing their time and career because of the persisting problem.

The Governor reportedly assured to look into the matter and intimate the students' grievances and the ground realities to the Nagaland University and the HRD ministry.

The PGSU leaders reaffirmed that the agitation would continue until and unless the resignation tendered by Prof. Sharma is accepted by the HRD ministry.
