Pereira's hat-trick helps Vasco sink Indian Bank

Bangalore, Mar 10 (UNI) Vasco Sports Club, Goa, aided by a brilliant hat-trick by striker Anthony Pereira thrashed Indian Bank, Chennai 3-0 in the Second Division ONGC Cup 10th National Football League (Group B) here today.

Vasco, which recorded its third win in the six team league, led 1-0 at half time.

Registering the first hat-trick of the league, Anthony opened the account in the eighth minute to cash in on a pass from Brazillian Edmilson Santos after Rovan Pereira failed.

Anthony scored twice in the second session in which the Bankmen regrouped and made counter raids which were deftly staved off by Vasco custodian Milagrio Medeira The win put Vasco in the second spot with nine points behind Army XI having 10 points, while Indian Bank had collected only four points.

Bush concerned about message to West Asia over ports

Women battalion to be formed

Cooch Behar, Mar 10 (UNI) BSF Addtional Director General M L Kunawat said today a women battalion will be formed for the first time in the country. Mr Kunawat said Rs 2300 crore would be needed for the formation of the battalion. Mr Kunawat said 150 companies would be provided to West Bengal for holding peaceful elections in the state. Sarita calls for relook at rehabilitation measures for disabled

Mysore, Mar 10 (UNI) The National Policy on Rehabilitation has recognised the rapid changes in the area and decided to bring amendments to the Disabled Persons Act, Ms Sarita Prasad, Secretary, Union Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry, informed today. Inaugurating the two-day national meet of Rehabilitation Experts here, she said the draft of the proposed amendments to the Act were ready and the text had been placed on the website and suggestions invited.
