P N B merges RRB's in Bihar

Kolkata, Mar 10 (UNI) Four Regional Rural Banks(RRBs), sponsored by Punjab National Bank in Bihar,have been amalgamated into a single Regional Rural Bank in the name of Madhya Bihar Gramin Bank with its Head Office at Patna.

These four amalgamated RRBs are Bhojpur Rohtas Gramin Bank, Magadh Gramin Bank, Nalanda Gramin Bank and Patliputra Gramin Banks have altogether 407 branches in 11 districts of Bihar.

With this amalgamation, the total number of PNB sponsored RRBs has come down to nine in six states.These are Madhya Bihar Gramin bank Patna,Haryana Gramin bank Rohtak, Himachal Gramin bank Mandi, Punjab gramin bank Kapurthala, Rajasthan Gramin bank Alwar, Uttar Pradesh gramin bank Meerut, Devi Patan Kshetriya gramin bank Gonda, Rani Laxmibai Kshetriya gramin bank Jhansi and Kisan gramin bank Badaun.

With this all the amalgamation proposals initiated by PNB stands implemented,PNB sources here today said adding the process of amalgamation had also gone on smoothly.

Tussle unlikely for Rajya Sabha elections in Maharashtra

Mumbai, Mar 10 (UNI) The biennial elections for six Rajya Sabha seats from Maharashtra, scheduled for March 28, are unlikely to see any tusssle with the Congress-NCP combine sure to win two seats each, while the Shiv Sena and the BJP will have to be content with one each. However, the Sena-BJP alliance, which will have about 30 surplus votes after electing their two candidates, may try to field a seventh candidate and Sena MLC.....

Surjeet suggests Centre to follow CMP to complete full term

New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) Veteran Marxist and former CPI(M) general secretary H S Surjeet today stated that if the UPA government adhered strictly to the Common Minimum Programme(CMP), it would complete its five-year term with ''flying colours''. '' Even it will fare much better than the previous governments if it followed the CMP in letter and spirit and implement all pro-poor projects enshrined in it,'' Mr Surjeet told UNI. Cong announces screening committees for assembly polls

New Delhi, Mar 10: Congress President Sonia Gandhi today (Mar 10, 2006) constituted the party's screening committees for assembly poll-bound Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Pondicherry as part of the exercise to finalise the contestants' lists.Each committee has five members, including the Chief Minister/ Legislative Party Leader, the PCC President and the AICC General Secretary Incharge of the respective states.The other members of the screening committees are Ms Mohsina Kidwai and Mr Oscar Fernandes (for Assam),.....
