No proposal to link Greater Noida with Delhi Metro: Maken

New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) There is no proposal at present to connect Greater Noida with the Delhi Metro, Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay Maken told the Lok Sabha today.

The Minister was replying to a written question on whether there was any proposal under consideration by the government to link Greater Noida with Metro Rail.

In reply to another question, the Minister said Detailed Project Report for extension of Metro to Noida and Gurgaon have been prepared.

He said as per the DPR for extension of Metro to Gurgaon, the proposed alignment is from Qutub Minar to Sushant Lok in Gurgaon, covering a length of 16 Km, and is estimated to cost Rs 1320 crore.

According to the DPR for extension of Metro to Noida, the alignment is from New Ashok Nagar to Noida city centre, covering a length of 7.05 km and was estimated to cost Rs 736 crore.

While the Uttar Pradesh Government has accorded 'in principle' approval to extension of Metro to Noida, the governments of Delhi and Haryana are studying alternative alignments for the extension of Metro to Gurgaon. The expenditure for the extension of Metro to Gurgaon and Noida is to be shared in proportion to the length of extension in each state, the Minister said.

In respect of the alignment to Noida, the entire cost is to be borne by the Uttar Pradesh Government, with a share of 15 per cent proposed to be borne by the Centre. However, the proportion of sharing in respect to the extension to Gurgaon would be finalised after the final agreement is agreed upon, Mr Maken said.
