Marine Drive rape case: Hearing adjourned to March 13

Mumbai, Mar 10 (UNI) Additional Sessions Judge K U Chandiwal today adjourned the hearing of the infamous Marine Drive rape case to March 13.

Defence counsel Prakash Vagh contended that since the prosecution submitted a written argument against the accused's statement today, it needed some time to study the matter.

The accused, in his statement to the court, had pleaded that he was innocent and falsely implicated in this case, he said and added that on March 13, the defence would argue against the prosecution's replies.

Judge Chandiwal, who has been assigned to hear the rape case, has completed recording the statement of the dismissed constable Sunil Atmaram More, who was accused of raping a 17-year-old girl on April 21 last year inside the police outpost at Marine Drive in South Mumbai.

Earlier, the court had completed the examination of 27 witnesses in this case.

After the incident, city police Commissioner A N Roy had dismissed More from the service.

Police deny phone tapping in Madhya Pradesh

Bhopal, Mar 10 (UNI) Madhya Pradesh Police's Intelligence branch has described allegations of phone tapping of political leaders, officers and journalists as baseless and unsubstantiated. Chinese delegation to visit Mumbai

Mumbai, Mar 10 (UNI) A four-member delegation from China, representing People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, will visit Mumbai on March 12 and 13.
