Liquidity could be under pressure: Reddy

Mumbai, Mar 10 (UNI) Reserve Bank of India (RBI) Governor Dr Y V Reddy today said that ''transient factors affecting market liquidity'' could put some pressure on the system in the middle of March.

''Transient factors affecting market liquidity such as advance tax flows can put some pressure in mid-March,'' Dr Reddy said at the sidelines of the Global Conference on actuaries here.

However, he observed, this could be managed through the RBI refinance or the repo window.

Governor also that the central bank would endeavour to maintain stability in the country's financial markets.

''We see no excess volatility in money, forex or government bond market,'' he told the conference.

Vidharbha needs special attention form Centre: MP

New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) Vidarbha, the backward region of Maharashtra requires Rs 10,000 crore annually to help solve its several problems from failing crops, extreme poverty and unemployment, and there is a also a need to draw up a special action plan for this 'neglected' area, Rajya Sabha MP Datta Meghe said today. No agri land to Salim without adequate employment : Molla

DU all set to crackdown on anti-social elements during Holi

New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) With Holi just a few days away, the Delhi University today announced a slew of security measures to crackdown on anti-social elements on the campus and its affiliated colleges. The University in coordination with law enforcing agencies and voluntary organisations has initiated ''internal and external'' steps to check any untoward incident, particularly harassment of women.
