K'taka Govt to hold talks with pvt colleges

Bangalore, Mar 10 (UNI) The Karnataka Government has invited the managements of private professional colleges to discuss the vexed issue of seat matrix and fee structure, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy said today.

Speaking to newspersons after attending the CII annual members day here today, he said that while the Government was more concerned about protecting the interests of parents and students, it had an open mind about discussing the issue with the management.

Mr Kumaraswamy said the State Government had made its intention clear on the issue of the Common Entrance Test, fee structure and seat matrix, based on the recommendations of the expert committee constituted for the same.

The Chief Minister said the Common Minimum Programme of the JD(S)-BJP Government had been finalised and would be announced in a couple of days. The CMP would highlight the policies, programmes and agenda of the coalition Government.

Earlier in an interaction with CII members, Mr Kumaraswamy said he would strive hard to put an end to corruption in the system. He appealed to CII members not to shift their operations to other States and offerred all facilities to them.

He said that to improve the railway network in the State, he had discussed with Railways Minister Lalu Prasad and promised to release the State's share of funds to five fillip to all ongoing projects.

Four passengers killed, 48 injured as a bus falls into gorge

Jammu, Mar 10 (UNI) At least four people were killed on the spot and 48 others injured, many of them seriously, when a bus plunged into a deep gorge at Magar Gad in district Kathua today. According to police sources, the accident occurred this morning when the driver of the bus, on the way from Jammu to Kathua, lost control, while overtaking a vehicle, the bus rolled down into a deep gorge. Ten pilgrims killed in road mishap

Mandya, Karnataka, Mar 10 (UNI) At least ten pilgrims were killed and 50 others seriously injured when a lorry in which they were travelling overturned and fell into a ditch between Halaguru and Mutthathi highway in this district today. Police sources said the mishap occurred when the lorry, carrying more than 70 people from Chikkakalkuni village in Mysore district, was proceeding to Mutthathi village, for a religious function. No proposal to link Greater Noida with Delhi Metro: Maken

New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) There is no proposal at present to connect Greater Noida with the Delhi Metro, Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay Maken told the Lok Sabha today. The Minister was replying to a written question on whether there was any proposal under consideration by the government to link Greater Noida with Metro Rail. In reply to another question, the Minister said Detailed Project Report for extension of Metro to Noida.....
