Kerala urges EC for permission to implement Pay Commission

New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) The Kerala Government today requested the Election Commission to grant permission for implementation of the Pay Comission recommendations to its employees.

Finance Minister of the state Vakkam Purushothaman, after meeting Chief Election Commissioner B B Tandon, told newsmen that he had explained the genuineness of the intention of the State government.

The decision to implement the recommendations was taken by the government last month itself and the same had figured in his budget speech, he added.

Mr Purushothaman stressed that though the model code of conduct came into force from March 1, the state cabinet had decided to implement the recommendation much earlier.

He said he was hopeful that the Election Commission would understand the circumstances under which the government was pursuing the case.

Later, the minister released a book on District Disaster Management, edited by Kerala Resident Commissioner P Michael Vetha Siromany.

SBIOA to go on indefinite strike from April three

Thiruvananthapuram, Mar 10 (UNI) The entire staff, including officers' of the State Bank of India will go on an indefinite strike from next month, demanding immediate revision of pension, State Bank of India Officers Association (SBIOA) general secretary M Sreenath said today.
