Lucknow, Mar 10 (UNI) Senior BJP leader Kalraj Mishra, who was today renominated by the party for the Rajya Sabha seat from Uttar Pradesh, is on threshold of a probable record of representing the Upper House at the Centre and in the state for the maximum time.
Mr Mishra, incidentally, has never contested any election during his political career and always chosen the upper house route during his political journey of about three decades --again a record of sorts.
He has served the upper house for over two decades since he was first nominated to RS in 1978, to be elected again in the upper house of Parliament in the RS poll in 2002.
After having been renominated for the third time for RS, he is on the threshold of making a record while combining his total tenure in Parliament and in the state legislature.
The senior BJP leader was first nominated to UP Vidhan Parishad, the upper house in UP Legislative in 1986 and remained in the state upper house till 2002.
In the meantime, Mr Mishra also remained the state BJP president for three terms and the the cabinet minister in the UP from March 21 to August 17, 2002.
