Jyoti shines bright, 5 Indians make cut in Singapore Masters

Singapore, Mar 10 (UNI) Jyoti Randhawa shone bright with a sparkling four-under 68 to move up to tied 23rd at two-under 142 while Rahil Gangjee's identical round saw the Kolkata pro just about making the cut in the OSIM Singapore Masters here today.

Five Indians -- Jyoti Randhawa (142), Shiv Kapur (144), Gaurav Ghei (145), Amandeep Johl (145) and Rahil Gangjee (145) -- made the cut and those who fell by the wayside included Harmeet Kahlon (151) and Jeev Milkha Singh (152).

The lone bogey on the 16th hole was the only blemish in Randhawa's fruitful outing that saw the highest ranked Indian golfer reeling off birdies on the third, seventh, ninth, 12th and 18th to round off the day.

Gangjee, who had a horrendous opening round of 77, was undeterred by the bogey on the 16th and he fired five birdies for his round of four-under 68 to make the cut at tied 59th place, which he shares with compatriots Gaurav Ghei(73, 72) and Amandeep Johl (72, 73).

Shiv Kapur lost direction on his way back and after firing a treble of birdies in his front nine, he dropped four bogeys to undo the good work and was placed tied 48th at 144.

Local favourite Mardan Mamat could not reproduce his opening round show but today's two-under 70 was enough to secure the sole lead, one stroke ahead of Marcus Both (68, 68) and Prayad Marksaeng (67, 69) at the par-72 Laguna National Golf and Country Club.
