Bangalore, Mar 10 (UNI) Biotech major Biocon India Chairperson and Managing Director Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw has called upon India to position itself as a preferred outsourcing destination for Research and Development.

''There are compelling reasons for people to invest in our country. But for this, everyone should speak the growth story. The Union Government has started being growth-focused, but it is not translating down to the State levels,'' she said at a seminar on 'India: a global story-Can We Become The Preferred Investment Destination?', organised jointly by CNBC-TV18, the leading business medium in the country, and Allianz Insurance here yesterday.

Rajesh Exports Chairman Rajesh Mehta, in his address, said the biggest restricting factor for growth of Indian industry was the cumbersome procedure involved in starting a business. ''If there is a significant change in this current scenario, then there will be assured growth. The world needs India and so we should move from complacency and understand these needs,'' he added.

SCR, Andhra Bank enters MoU for disbursing staff salaries

Vijayawada, Mar 10 (UNI) The South Central Railway (SCR) and the public sector Andhra Bank has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for disbursing salaries of the railway employees through the Andhra Bank in Vijayawada division. Andhra Bank Deputy General Manager Neelamani Patel, talking to reporters after opening the a new branch of the bank at Governorpet here, said with the tie-up 21,000 railway employees from Gudur to Visakhapatnam in the division can draw.....

Vidharbha needs special attention form Centre: MP

New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) Vidarbha, the backward region of Maharashtra requires Rs 10,000 crore annually to help solve its several problems from failing crops, extreme poverty and unemployment, and there is a also a need to draw up a special action plan for this 'neglected' area, Rajya Sabha MP Datta Meghe said today. No agri land to Salim without adequate employment : Molla

Kolkata, Mar 10 (UNI) West Bengal Land and Land Reforms Minister Abdur Rezzak Molla today assured the Assembly that the state government accorded high priority on safeguarding sufficiency in foodgrain production and no agricultural plot would be given to the Indonesian Salim group for setting up of industries without a guarantee for high returns in terms of employment.
