Huge cache of firearms recovered in Patna

Patna, Mar 10 (UNI) A cache of firearms, including live cartridges of AK-47 rifle were recovered under Pirbahore police station area here today.

Senior Police Superintendent of Patna Kundan Krishnan said two hand grenades, few detonators, a revolver, a double barrel gun, a pump rifle and 600 live cartridges including 20 AK-47 rifles were recovered from a fire arms shop.

Police arrested an anti social, Ram Yadav of Gazipur town in Uttar Pradesh in this connection.

Mr Krishnan said the license of the shop was cancelled after its owner Dilip Singh was arrested in Bhojpur district few months back on charges of providing firearms to criminals.

Police also busted an illegal gun factory under Dulhin Bazar police station area in Patna district today. A country made rifle and a double barrel gun was recovered from the spot.

Cellular jail completes 100 years

Port Blair, Mar 10 (UNI) The Cellular Jail in Andamans, which was a mute witness to the trial and tribulations of the country's hundreds of freedom fighters, today completed 100 years of its existence. Now a national memorial, the jail which was called 'Kalapani', was used by the British during the independence movement to incarcerate hundreds of freedom fighters. Three surving freedom fighters and spouses and close relatives of deceased freedom fighters joined a ceremony.....

TRS members stage walkout alleging neglecting of Telangana

Hyderabad, Mar 10 (UNI) Members of the Telangana Rashtra Samiti today staged a walkout in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly alleging that irrigation projects in Telangana region were being deliberately neglected. TRS member Dr G Nagesh said that while there was an ayacut of 12 lakh acres under minor irrigation tanks in the region when Telangana was merged in Andhra Pradesh, it had come down to 3 lakh acres now, ''due to deliberate neglect of Telangana.''.....

Change visible in the mindset of separatists: Azad

Jammu, Mar 10 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad today said as a sequel to foreign visits of separatist leaders, indications suggested a sort of change in the perception and mindset with regard to resolution of political problems of the state. In reply to a question in the Legislative Council, Chief Minister said, although the leader of Hurriyat Confernce (HC) and Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) appear to have projected their point.....
