Hasbro Clothing plans to open five exclusive stores in South

Chennai, Mar 10 (UNI) Hasbro Clothing Private Limited, which owns leading men's fashion brands Genesis and Basics, has chalked out an ambitious plan to open five exclusive stores in the South, involving a total investment of Rs 1.5 crore.

Talking to newspersons after opening the company's seventh exclusive store in the city at Chennai City Centre Mall here today, Suhail Sattar, Director, said the five stores would be opened in the next two months and they would come up in Salem, Madurai, Calicut and two more in the city.

Describing the city as a dynamic market for fashion brands, he said the customers were brand and quality conscious. "Whether it is quality or range, ambience or fashion quotient, we set new standards in the country," he added.

Ruling out Hasbro entering into the female segment, Mr Sattar said there is so much to be done in the men segment and the company would soon be launching men's innerwear.

He said company's two manufacturing facilities in the city and Bangalore were operating with the capacity of making six lakh garments a year. While the Chennai facility exclusively make shirts, the trousers were made in the Bangalore facility. There was enough scope for expanding the production capacities in the two facilities, he added.

Hasbro, which had invested significantly in Research and Development and came out with product line extention like caps, denims and belts had consolidated its position in South India with the recent store openings in Hyderabad and Bangalore, he said.

Mohamed Hanif, another Director said that the company had grown tremendously over the years, achieving 70 per cent growth, consecutively for the last five years.

Hasbro a Rs 50 crore entity, owned 23 exclusive stores across the country with a presence in over 400 multi brand outlets.

"Internationally, Hasbro is seen with 50 multi-brand outlets," Mr Hanif added.

10 yrs' imprisonment for smuggling opium

Neemuch, MP, Mar 10 (UNI) A special court has sentenced a person to 10 years' imprisonment on the charge of smuggling opium and fined him Rs one lakh failing, which the term will be extended by a year. According to prosecution, the Central Narcotics Bureau had arrested Rajasthan-based Chhaganlal from railway station here and seized the drug from him on May 12, 2001. CID granted permission to question Daya Nayak in Khawja Yunus case

Mumbai, Mar 10 (UNI) Special ACB (anti-corruption bureau) Judge S P Mahajan today allowed the State CID to interrogate suspended encounter special Daya Nayak and record his statement in the Khawja Yunus case. The Special Court, in response to a plea of the CID, permitted the agency to question Nayak on any working day in the Bhoiwada police lock-up, where the police officer has been kept under judicial custody for security reasons.
