Haryana govt for implementation of Citizen's Charter

Chandigarh, Mar 10 (UNI) The Haryana government has directed the heads of all departments to accelerate the process of formulation and effective implementation of Citizens's Charter in order to provide information about the services provided by their department to the citizens of the state.

A spokesman of the Administrative Reforms department here today said that Citizen's Charter is a document, which lists the services provided by the organization to the citizens and the procedure for claiming these services. The department heads have been directed to mention in the Charter, the period required for the delivery of such services and whom to contact if their work is not being attended to in the stipulated period.

He said that to make the Citizen's Charter consumer-friendly, consumer groups should be consulted at the time of its formulation and review. The Charter should be handy and made available to the staff and the representatives of people so as to inform them about the services of each department.

The government has directed that motivation and orientation of the staff at various levels and training to staff be ensured for its proper implementation. Wide publicity should be given about it through various media such as annual report, in house journal, press, consumer groups, display boards and websites.

The spokesman said that it would be better if the officer responsible for public grievances redressal is nominated as Nodal Officer to look into cases of non-fulfillment of Charter's commitment. Annual internal and external review of the Charter will be conducted at regular intervals and a feedback report will be sent to the Administrative Reforms Department.

The department heads have also been asked to form an action plan for the publicity, monitoring and review of the charter.

Deal with Mittal Steel should be on economic interests : Schroeder
