Patna, Mar 10 (UNI) The Bihar government today announced that a fresh proposal to accord Central University status to Patna University would be sent to the Centre shortly.
Replying to a stared question of Jagannath Rai, Human Resources Development Minister Brishen Patel said a fresh proposal for granting central university status to Patna University would be sent to the Centre. He said a proposal was sent to the Centre in this connection by the previous regime but the Union Human Resources Ministry had raised objections on certain points adding a fresh move by the State Government would take into consideration all these objections.
In response to a question of Congress member Mahachandra Prasad Singh, the minister informed the house that there were 4500 Primary and Middle schools having no pucca buildings. He said a policy decision would be taken soon for construction of school buildings.
Responding to a question by BJP's Giriraj Singh, Mr Patel admitted that the State Government had no control over the new schools coming up in different localities of the state without any formal registration. He informed the house that the government had convened a meeting of management of the private schools to ensure that some of its seats could be reserved for under privileged students.
To a question of Basudeo Singh, Mr Patel said the government had not received the report of the committee constituted to review the unaided education policy. He said the government would take a decision in this connection after the panchayat poll.
Addressing to a question of RJD's Nawal Kishore Yadav, the minister said, out of 62 approved Kasturba Gandhi Schools, 30 had already been established while process was on to establish 32 more such schools.
