Gilgit-Baltistan part of J and K: India

New Delhi, Mar 10: India today (Mar 10, 2006) reaffirmed that the Gilgit-Baltistan region is a part of Jammu and Kashmir state which, on the basis of its accession in 1947, is an intergral part of the country.

''We would like to reaffirm that the region of Gilgit-Baltistan is a part of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, which, on the basis of its accession in 1947, is an integral part of India,'' an External Affairs Ministry spokesman said in reply to a questtion.

The spokesman was commenting on reports that some Pakistani Missions were circulating a new map of Jammu and Kashmir depicting the so called Northern Areas of Gilgit-Baltistan as a separate entity and only the rest of the J and K as a state.

''We have seen the reports in the Pakistani media,'' the spokesman said.

He said the Pakistan Foreign Office had, however, denied that that it had circulated any new map.

K'taka CM to take part in meet called by PM tomorrow

Bangalore, Mar 10: Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy left for New Delhi this evening (Mar 10, 2006) to participate in the Chief Ministers and Chief Justices meeting convened by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh tomorrow.The Chief Minister is also expected to meet Central ministers including Railway Minister Lalu Prasad, and press for the release of funds and approvals for various pending Central projects in the state.Mr Kumaraswamy was expected to return on Monday morning, official sources said......

PCC decides to campaign with "human poster"

Kolkata, Mar 10 (UNI) With the walls off their cuffs, West Bengal Pradesh Congress added an innovation to their campaign deciding on using 'human poster' to spread their message in the state. Governor should be a positive and constructive link: Nitish

New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today said the office of the Governor should be a 'positive and constructive link' in facilitating development of the state rather than playing the role of a representative of the ruling party.
