German FA boss wants Klinsmann to move back to Germany

BERLIN, March 10 (Reuters) German Football Association (DFB) chief executive Theo Zwanziger believes he can convince Germany coach Juergen Klinsmann to come back to live in his native country.

Klinsmann is facing growing criticism in Germany for his decision to keep living in the United States.

''I am certain that we can convince Juergen Klinsmann that the people want to have him here,'' Zwanziger told reporters after a DFB meeting in Duesseldorf.

Since taking the top job in August 2004, Klinsmann has been commuting between Germany and his home in southern California.

The former Germany striker, under scrutiny after a 4-1 friendly defeat by Italy last week, was scolded by Franz Beckenbauer this week for returning home instead of attending a pre-World Cup workshop.

Zwanziger defended Klinsmann, saying he liked his style.

''He's not an easy character but easy characters don't win the World Cup,'' Zwanziger said.

''We need people who go their own way and don't change their minds all the time.'' REUTERS AY RK1825
