Gavaskar, Kapil in BCCI resource utilisation committee

Mohali, Mar 10 (UNI) Former BCCI President I S Bindra will head an 11-member committee -- also including Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev -- which will suggest ways and means for optimum utilisation of the cricket board's resources.

The decision to constitute the commitee was taken in the February 21 meeting of the BCCI Executive Committee meeting and other mebers of the commitee include Shashank Manohar, Arun Jaitley, Ajay Shirke, KM Ramparsad, RS Shetty, MP Pandove, Niranjan Shah and N Srinivasan (convener).

Special invitees will be Dilip Vengsarkar, Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Navjot Singh Sidhu, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar.

The committee will suggest efficient way of utilisation of resources being developed through the state associations by way of subvention and grants.

The objective is to developing world class infrastructure from the grassroot level and build institutes of excellence in each region.

The panel will also examine the present system of selection of national and state teams, umpires and suggest measures for making them more efficient and foolproof.

The committee will also suggest measures to deal with members who have not yet taken any steps to create infrastructure. It will also recommend steps for distribution of funds to members more equitable.

The committee has been asked to submit its report within four weeks.

Haryana govt to popularise pisciculture

Chandigarh, Mar 10 (UNI) The Haryana government has launched a number of projects to popularise pisciculture, which includes setting up of a well equipped fish diagnostic lab at Aquaculture Research Training Institute at Hisar and 18 fish poly-care centres at district level. Besides the government also plans to set-up 10 aqua clinics at fish seed farms, a Fish Farmers Awareness Centre at Gurgaon and two new fish markets under a fish marketing project. Stating this.....

Industrial output up by 8.3 pc in Jan

New Delhi, Mar 10 (UNI) Industrial production was up by a robust 8.3 per cent in January 2006 compared to the same month last year, with manufacturing growing by a heafty 9.2 per cent, catapulting the industrial index. Manufacturing, which constitutes 75 per cent of the weight of the IIP, was a mere 5.9 per cent in December, and the steep pick up stoked hopes that recovery was well under way and the economy would end.....

All arragements made for procurement of mustard in Haryana

Chandigarh, Mar 10 (UNI) Haryana State Cooperative Supply and Marketing Federation (HAFED) would commence procurement of mustard from March 16 at a Minimum Support Price (MSP) of Rs 1715 per quintal as announced by the central government for the current year. While stating this here today, a spokesman of HAFED said that mustard would be procured at purchase centres and through cooperative societies in the mandies.
